Home Electrolysis Kit Cautions
Just because home electrolysis kits are widely available does not mean that such kits provide the best and most effective options for electrolysis hair removal. Many people choose to use a home electrolysis kit to deal with unwanted and unsightly hair on their faces and other parts of their body because such kits are a less expensive alternative to costly salon treatments.
While home electrolysis kits are in fact less expensive than salon electrolysis treatments, they are not always the best option. Even though home electrolysis kits are designed to be used by people who aren’t specifically trained to perform electrolysis procedures, there is no guarantee that the results of using a home electrolysis kit will be as lasting as those from salon treatments.
How Does A Home Electrolysis Kit Work?
While there are many different types of home electrolysis kits, the basic design and function of the different models is similar. A home electrolysis kit is a battery operated device outfitted with probe that you have to insert into the follicle of every single hair that you want to remove. The probe is connected to a nine volt battery. Once the probe is inserted into a hair follicle, you hit a button on the apparatus, which transmits electricity to the follicle through the probe.
When the probe reaches the papilla in the hair follicle, the home electrolysis kit will emit a tone, indicating that the circuit has been completed. You then have to hold the probe in place for abut fifteen seconds in order to destroy the hair. You can then remove the hair with tweezers. If you did the procedure correctly, the hair won’t grow back.
For many people, this description will be enough to make them decide against an home electrolysis kit. Many people can’t stand the thought of sticking a probe into their body and then following it up with a jolt of electric current.
Even if the thought of doing this to yourself doesn’t bother you, think about how tedious it will be to do this over and over on every hair that you want to get rid of. If you have quite a bit of unwanted hair, this process can be both very time consuming and very painful. Of course, salon electrolysis treatments are also time consuming and can be uncomfortable as well. However, because you aren’t trained to perform electrolysis, when you try to do it yourself, the procedure will tend to take longer and be more painful than one that is completed by a professional.
Additionally, it is less likely that you will enjoy the full benefits of permanent hair removal with an at home electrolysis kit instead of a salon treatment. One of the reasons that home electrolysis kits are often not as effective as salon electrolysis treatments is that it can be difficult to insert the probe into each hair follicle correctly. If the probe isn’t inserted correctly, the electric current can’t do its job efficiently, and the hair isn’t likely to be permanently destroyed.
